Badley Ashton employees help team of students to victory!
Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Horncastle, held a two day 'Challenge of Management' conference on 1st and 2nd July. Badley Ashton Geologists Kanchan Dasgupta and Salvatore Di Simone agreed to act as 'advisors' to a group of students to help them through the tasks of the two days. The Lower Sixth students were divided into ten teams each with their own advisor. The tasks were designed to address various skills identified as important by business leaders, and included producing a 'business' poster, designing a product to sell to a supermarket including a 'sales pitch', and negotiating a deal to deliver a product custom made by the students under time pressure. Each task was given points and then totalled over the two days to get the winner. Kanchan and Salvatore's team 'Anomaly' came out top and were awarded the winners' trophy.
Following the event, the organisers were kind enough to send us a thank you e-mail.
We, at the school, are very grateful for the support that Badley Ashton has provided over the years for the conference, and we very much hope that you will continue to do so. We were delighted too that Kanchan was actually enjoying himself so much that he was able to change his plans at the last minute so that he could see his team through to the end!
With thanks,
John Aggett
